From Yue:

Resistance to change is prevalent, not only the implement an EMR. People are reluctant to step out of their comfort zone. Kübler-Ross’ indicated change occurs through five stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. The process always takes longer than expected, even though tons of methods have been taken to make this smother. And the stages may not occur sequentially. Identify the steps and take action accordingly may eliminate negative emotional response effectively.

From Xiruo:

I was trying hard to avoid reading these like in an MBA class, but failed. I'm far from an expert in managing changes, but this topic is just so up in the sky (without concrete cases and solutions). Those models are more like in a psychology class... without any interesting experiments. How to deal with an arrogant manager seems like the topic outside my interest, even though I have to admit everyone has a chance in such situation. Some part of that AMIA competency diagram is like a life-long didactic lecture... which I wish to learn more in my later years of phd life, not now.

From Jake:

I tried my best to tie NLP into this, but that was somewhat hard. I think that this section makes sense for doctors, nurses, and C-suite executives more so than informatics students. It seems like the main topic regarding change is the addition of the EHR and that will be completed in the majority of healthcare organizations before we even get our PhD's. I wanted to stress in my analysis that not all change in HIT is the adoption of the EHR though. So that being said, I'm not completely against the topic, but I found it a little hard to reach and also somewhat hard to retell for a natural language processing audience.
